A Touch of Longitude and Latitude

James and I were both off work on the same day - AMAZING, so we decided to jaunt over to the Greenwich Royal Observatory and check out a Steampunk adventure that was showing there. Some of it looked amazing but I feel it would have looked better in a different setting. It was essentially a bunch of Steampunk artists created a story and adventure for you to explore. Their story was amusing and the aesthetics were pretty cool although I didn't completely get all of it.

I also got pretty excited that this was where Thor filmed for the most recent film. Shame that hunk of meat isn't a permanent fixture:

James: not quite the hunk of meat but of well :-p I do really like this picture though:

And now onto the Steampunk stuff:

I really thought this head piece was really pretty. Although not something I could wear despite my love of hats when I get drunk.

My favourite thing in the whole exhibit!:

This next piece was super cute, although I am not entirely sure what the Elephants were all about. Most of the calligraphy was too intricate for me to follow everything written which was a shame.

This hat was 'apparently' a secret way for ladies to learn about Longitude and Latitude at that time, apparently it wasn't seen as lady-like to be educated. So they 'made' these intricate hats with information on them so they could study in secret in the guise of fashion.

And here's a couple of pictures from the maritime museum section which I liked:

Here's to more days out exploring!
