Happy Mother's Day

So my lovely wee mum got 1kg of foam banana's for her mother's day! Hilarious but also my mum's fave sweet! I wish I was up in Scotland with her now to take a picture of her with them all!

In February I joined amialong from http://www.amigurumipatterns.net which has been so much fun. This month there was a pattern from Little Muggles of her two little doggies Lola and Finn. I had a lot of fun making it and feel it turned out well!

At this point it took me a little while with the feet. I couldn't understand why I couldn't connect them properly. It turned out that one foot was the wrong way round (sigh!) hours wasted on silliness!

This was my finished product, I just had time to make one as I have loads of things waiting to be made. Pretty proud of it. She has a new home lined up already with my friend's animal crazy toddler.

For the duck applique I got the pattern from here:

I have managed to set off my back injury again (nooooo!) Luckily although bad, it feels like it is starting to improve already (it went on me Thursday just gone). Due to my silly back I missed my friends Housewarming/ Chinese New Year party last night :( I was making her a little pug to mark the year of the dog but due to pain and napping as a result of painkillers it is not quiet finished yet. I hope it turns out like the wonderful pattern by Little Owlet as it is super cute!

Here was my work in progress along with some light reading to mark International Woman's Day last week:

Talking about strong women who else is binging on the second season of Jessica Jones? Since I'm in pain I have taken time off from studying and catching up on crochet and some kick-ass PI's. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Cross your fingers and toes that my back behaves this week!

Fritz the Frog

I was going to post this on Monday but there was some issue with blogger making people's pictures go weird. It was my sister's 21st birthday last Friday so I decided instead of a big gift to make her a 'goody box' filled with lots of different, well, goodies. One of which I wanted to be handmade by moi. Since she has a thing for frogs - which I only found out recently and somehow missed for years - I decided to crochet a frog. I searched on Pinterest until I came across this Fritz the Frog pattern by Yuki Yarn designs. You can find this on Ravelry or straight from her Etsy shop here. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. I used Stylecraft Special Double Knit wool Grass Green, lot 1821 for the majority of the frog. For the bottom of the head and the tummy patch it was a ball of wool I had lying around without the label so your guess is as good as mine. Sadly I dispatched this birthday gift on the actual birthday as leading up to it I was loaded with the cold resulting in a splitting headache which didn't mix well with counting stitches. I am pretty happy with how it turned out, hopefully the birthday girl was too.

It was a very easy pattern to follow, the digits for the fingers and toes where a little tricky. My reject toes ended up being kitten toys. Which due to the size the kittens loved to run around carrying them in their mouths - uber cute!

My Amineko

I can finally share my version of Amineko as lovely Orjanna has received her present and the surprise will not be spoiled!

Tough day with all that wine and unicorn riding!

I enjoyed making this little guy. The main wool used for his body was made from one ball of Sirdar's Montana wool shade 211, it's so pretty. I had a little too much fun taking photies of him in various funny positions. It amused me for about an hour haha.

The pattern is from this book:

I haven't been doing much crochet lately. Been busy working and reading my new kindle - my nose is never out of a book any more - lovin it! I did go to London Zoo with James for my birthday, I shall share some of my fave pictures for that soon! Just finished an epic run of nightshifts so time to get that nose back into my book again. It's filled with reapers, deities and limbo. An ace little free number from Kindle books:

Once I finish this one I had better start something productive before I begin another or my nose will never leave this thing!

Have an easy week people.

Christmas Crochet

Had a lovely chilled out Christmas where James and I watched loads, ate loads and did little else. We came across this funny family story on Reddit where this families tradition was to open a present on Christmas Eve much like many other families. What made this family different was the fact that their parents went to such lengths to trick the kids to open the pants and socks on Christmas eve by putting these in games boxes and tearing a corner of the wrapping paper. They even once made a bike shape with toilet roll. If I ever have kids I would be tempted to do this. link

This Christmas I made this little Crobot for one of my friends back in Glasgow. She has a thing for Robots, even used to own an alternative clothing store called Dead Robot. Shame it had to close, it was a cool wee shop. This is Mechanobot a pattern from Nelly Pailloux's Crobots.

Before adding his arms and legs

Using springs and things just adds another element to this pattern. I think this is my fave thing I have made so far!

He looked so good on my mantle place. I was tempted to keep him.

He was easy and fun to make this little guy. Was so satisfying how quickly he came together. I have started working on a scoodie - now until I came across the tutorial for this I had had no idea what a scoodie was - a mix between a scarf and a hoodie for all of you out there like me. Got myself some lovely chunky wool and a chunky hook to set to work on this project. Coming along quite nicely so far.

For Christmas James got me these gorgeous hooks from Knit Pro, I can't wait to find new patterns to put them to work.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas too and have a Happy New Year!

Mastershake

After many months of laziness and poor crochet abilities I have finally finished Mastershake and delivered it to Colin. I love nerdigurumi's designs. Would love to try a few more designs once I have more time after this big move.

Mathematical!

James arrived home today :) he has been sleeping essentially since he got back though! Jet lag is a bitch. I made him Jake from Adventure Time as a coming home gift - so glad that he loved it. The pattern was easy to do - although his mouth was a bit of a pain just cause it was so tight and hard to find out where to put my hook next but I got through it. If I can, anyone can! The pattern was from Mia's Atelier, she has a few wee patterns on there I would like to try. Defo would like to do a little bit of Lumpy Space Princess action too!

James brought me back these awesome pieces of jewellery from his adventure to Vancouver and Portland. I love them. Just need to think what to wear tomorrow to show off them to their advantage. My new cool skull broach and boat necklace - love them!

He got the skull broach from a wee craft fair, so not sure who did it. The necklace was by Strangely Yours. I had a wee look at some of their stuff and feel an obsessive notion to own this necklace:

Isn't it amazing. James defo picked some nice pieces for me and introduces me to an awesome Etsy shop. The more I look, the more little gems I see!

I'm off to bed after my tiring day of doing nothing. Night all!

Bizzy Bunny

Well my big bearded man has been away in Canada/Portland for three weeks now, two more weeks to go! Not that I am counting down or anything. It has been a tad lonely, especially with worries over the big move happening soon and our new start too. Surviving though - just. I have finished my uni degree. Been working like a dog with no pennies to enjoy myself. Hoping all works out ok, just gotta believe it will or I will get too stressed out. During the hours when I am not working, sleeping or eating I have been watching Chuck and trying to do some crochet to pass the time and ease the nerves. Here is my latest, a creation from YarnYard.

This little bunny should actually have arms and legs but they just didn't work out for me so decided to opt out. Here is a link to his video. After making it I did discover this other video which showed the best way to make stripes in line, in stead of wonky like I did.

Wish me luck that everything works out ok.

What a Hoot!

It was my little sis's 8th Birthday today - and what a glorious day we had! She got an amazing big paddling pool along with other gifts and had a whale of a time. I made her these little guys to go along with a Monster High t-shirt and towel (she is mega into Monster High just now).

They were so easy and fun to make. The pattern was by Amigurumi Barmy which was featured in Issue 25 or Craftseller.

I was chuffed that the birthday girl loved her little handmade owls from her big sis!

Although the pool and the sunshine was defo the star of the day!

My poor legs are now on fire from sunburn. Not looking forward to missing another glorious day tomorrow because I need to get back to slaving away in the stifling heat working my tooshi off. So glad I got to enjoy at least one nice day!

I'm also impressed I got up early after a nightshift to finish these wee guys for the birthday girl - with the help of Yoshi of course!

Hope everyone enjoyed the sun and remembered the factor 20 unlike me!
