A New Christmas Tradition

Merry Christmas!!!

Hope everyone's Christmas was nice and chilled involving too much food! James and I started a new tradition this year. I was inspired by the Gingerbread City exhibit at the Museum of Architecture in London. It was filled with fantastic smelling and fabulous looking structures:

So we decided we were going to try our hand at making a gingerbread car, loosely based on a Volvo design since we got an old Volvo this year (a complete money pit too!). Here is the process of us making our little Volvo gingerbread car, including it falling apart before James was able to salvage it!

I got the recipe for the gingerbread car from this YouTube video and I have absolutely tons of dough left - I'm going to make a bunch of 3D cookies now :) Since discovering this guy Donal Skehan I have become a bit of a fan. He is really easy to watch and his stuff looks tasty. I plan to try his Asian inspired eggs next. Some of the other YouTube cooks, particularly the ones making Gingerbread houses were just a tad too obnoxious for my taste, the few I looked at anyway!

Enjoy a lazy Boxing Day.

A Last Minute Christmas Decoration

I can't believe it's Christmas tomorrow! I decided to kill a little time tonight before Santa comes and made a little decoration. It was really easy, a lovely little pattern by Anabelia Handmade found here.

Looks pretty at the old fireplace!

Have an ace Christmas everyone!

Little Christmas Extras

Christmas Trees Galore!

Meet angry panda-alien looking felt plushy that I'm going to add as an extra in my little sisters prezzie. I reckon he will be perfect, as he is just as grumpy as Francine. The little hanging bird thing is made from awesome cerise felt, pretty fabric courtesy of ebay, a little button, some ribbon, yummy rose pot pourri with a turquoise thread trim. This I think will go in my Gran's prezzie, but I want to make more, I just need more felt.

Back to work today after a week off. Boo! At least it will be three day weeks soon due to Christmas and New Year. Can't wait for Christmas dinner at my mums this year. Poor kitty cats will need to survive one day on their own.

Christmas Glitter

I finally got around to making some Christmas cards, which I better get posted asap. It was fun and messy and I managed to get myself and the kitties covered in sparkles so nice and festive.

I made this little cat brooch out of fimo clay. It was the first time I've used it so I was quite happy with the result - lets hope that I get better with a little practice. It's a little extra crimbo prezzie for a friend of mine. Lets hope she likes this little guy!
