Gods Own Junkyard

Back in March, around my birthday, James and I went to check this place out. I had came across some pictures of it within Time Out London. The colours and lights instantly perked my interest. We inputted the details into Google Maps and were off. We ended up in a very residential area. It felt like we were heading the wrong way. A few turns later and we came across this small industrial area containing the sought after Gods Own Junkyard. I walked around captivated for ages, snapping away. Loving the vibe and colours. We had a massive slice of cake and a cold one from there cafe The Rolling Scones. It was incredibly good but so large I couldn't finish it! Here are some of my snaps from my visit:

A River of Poppies and a Melting House

Yesterday I decided to go a wee wonder alone around London. It's hard to make plans with folk when you work shift work, sometimes the only way you get to see things is by flying solo. First of all I went to a very busy Tower of London to see the poppy installation for Remembrance day. It was beautiful.

Thankfully the weather was nice for this part of my pottering about. It decided very aptly to turn a but miserable which suited the next thing I was to see down to the ground. I'm glad I didn't have to battle with umbrellas to see the poppies.

Next I went to London Bridge to see the melting house of wax part of the merge festival. I'm glad it lasted longer than they originally intended, it was meant to be completely melted by the end of October.

Sometimes pottering about by yourself is fun. 

Art of The Brick

Yesterday James and I went to the popular Art of The Brick show currently at the Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch. The exhibition was done by Nathan Sawaya, a lawyer turned artist who uses lego as his medium to work with. The pieces looked amazing but I must admit all his descriptions were a bit arty farty for James and I. Could you not just say, I made these cool pieces cause I thought they looked ace instead of making some wanky story up. Good job I never went into art in uni or anything, pretty sure I would have flunked it.

Chelsea Flower Show Continued... Dresses from flowers

I was blown away by the dresses displayed in the Chelsea Flower show, they were so elegant. Reminded me of a project catwalk challenge where they too had to use flowers to make dresses:
