Once again it has been a while since I have done my blog or done anything crafty. The last few months have been crazy. Visited my best friend who lives in the Isle of Lewis which was lovely. We visited the most gorgeous beach - if it had been warmer it would have felt like being abroad!
It was very snowy up the mountains in Harris!
And of course, no trip to the Isle of Lewis would be complete if you didn't view the Callanish Stones.
I was hard at work at uni too. Studying for my exams and preparing for a big important interview for my dream job in London! Whilst this was going on this little guy got sick - another urine infection. Poor wee soul was in such pain and peeing blood. You will be happy to know he is fine now :)
I took the megabus down to London for my big interview (about 9 hours by bus) Deep Vein Thrombosis eat your heart out! The weather down there was fabulous but at first the nerves had hold of me as I wanted that job so much! It was a five and a half hour interview - luckily after all that I got the job! Woohoo! Will be flitting with James and the cats at the end of the year for a fresh new start. One of the girls I went to Malawi with who is down there at the moment kindly put me up for the three days I was there for. I did a bit of sightseeing and enjoyed the weather. This house left a wee impression on me and my friend had never even noticed it despite being about 15 minutes from her flat!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is more like this all the time instead of the usual Glasgow Grey!
On the night I was about to head back to Glasgow on the overnight bus I got a call from James saying he had been in an accident:
He had been out mountain biking and whilst doing silly little jumps went flying off his bike. He broke his collar bone and had a mild concussion - thank goodness he was wearing his helmet and nothing worse happened. So he is off work at the moment on the sick as this kind of injury takes about 12 weeks before you can do heavy lifting again which his job relies upon. So I was worried sick on my way back and hardly slept a wink on the way back up to Glasgow. When I got home early the next morning and saw him and his friend sleeping in the living room (his friend had stayed to keep an eye on him following his head injury), he looked awful. White as a sheet and covered in bruises. So for a while I was nursing him whilst also force-feeding the cat medication. All before my exams. So needless to say I didn't do my best at the studying malarchy but hopefully I did enough. I shall find out in a few weeks. If all goes well that's my last exams in a good wee while :) Luckily James is on the mend now and is no longer in his sling but still has a wee while to go.
Needless to say I haven't been keeping up with my crafts with all this going on. My crochet Master Shake which I wanted to give my friend for his birthday in FEBRUARY is still not finished and looking at it now I think I have followed the pattern wrong and will have to start again as the lid looks massive in comparison to the cup. Sign. I definitely haven't mastered my hand at crochet yet!
So I have decided for the moment to abandon this and use video tutorials to hone my skills a little before attempting to do it right. It is just so much easier actually seeing what it is you are meant to do than simply reading a pattern when you are a novice such as I. So I have started a new project today:
I shall unveil more as I make it and keep you guessing what I am doing - that is if it turns out!
Goodnight!
Kirst
